God the Designer and Creator of All Things
God has revealed Himself through nature and His Word, the Bible: One God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created all things from nothing and reigns over all things. Nothing exists or occurs beyond God’s reign, knowledge, and power. All of creation exists by God’s design and is upheld by God’s power for the Glory of God.
(Genesis 1:1-31, Psalm 90:2, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Hebrews 1:1-3)
The Authority of the Word of God
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, therefore we accept the Word and the Word alone as our rule of faith, doctrine, and practice. the Bible provides us a worldview that answers: Who is God? Who are we? and How should we live? We teach and preach the Word of God with a view of God’s unfolding plans for humanity and creation. More than just a guide for life, the Word of God is living and active, alive and powerful when it is rightly proclaimed.
(Psalm 119:105, John 1:1-5, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12 )
The Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ
Jesus is the promised Christ (chosen/anointed), the Spirit-conceived, virgin-born Son of God, who died for our sins, was raised on the third day, and will return in righteous judgment to reign over a new heaven and new earth. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ reigns in victory and has broken the power of sin and death by His death, burial, and resurrection – fulfilling the promises God had made to redeem all creation.
(Luke 1:1-45, Isaiah 53:1-12, John 18:32, 2 Peter 3:13, Revelation 21:1-27)
God’s Gift of Salvation
All people are born as sinners and can be saved by God’s grace through faith in God. The power of God and His purpose in salvation is demonstrated in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. We display our faith in God through righteous and obedient living, not earning our salvation, but demonstrating it. This mercy comes to us as the gift of God, received by faith, demonstrated in repentance, baptism, and the pursuit of a righteous life. Baptism is an expression of faith and new creation in Christ.
(Ephesians 2:8-9, John 1:14-17, James 2:14-17)
Jesus Christ as Our Advocate
All who have faith in Jesus Christ will enjoy eternal life in the presence of God in a renewed heaven and earth. God will judge all humankind for their sin, and Jesus will be the advocate of those who have turned to Him in faith. Those who have rejected God will face judgment without Jesus Christ as an advocate and will remain eternally separated from God.
(Matthew 10:32-33, John 5:38-40, 1 John 2:1)
The Church
There is only one church – the Body of Christ. The church exists to exalt God and bring glory to Him through believing and sharing the Gospel message and discipling people towards a God-honoring life and maturity in Jesus Christ. The church is the family of God, led by Jesus Christ through the shepherding of local church elders. Community Christian Church is an elder-led church whose elders are members of the congregation. Our staff ministers serve under the leadership of the elders.
(Romans 12:4-6, John 17:20-23, Matthew 28:16-20)
